Webactualy two characters always die when they get dragonrot. the old lady and her son at the beginning of the game. if one of them gets dragon rot, they both die when you cure it. they die anyway at a later point in the game so it isn't a big deal, but they always die when they get cured of dragonrot after the tutorial sidequest is guranteed to give it to the old lady.
