WebOct 21, 2016 · Adults aged 65 or older who sought care in U.S. EDs experienced a risk of non-ICU hospitalization that increased with increasing age, independent of triage acuity and other characteristics. We also observed disparities in admission risks across race and geographical regions. WebHundreds of thousands of seniors age 65 and older are treated in hospital emergency rooms each year due to injuries associated with consumer products. Falls are the leading cause of both deaths and injuries in this age group. Fires are another top cause of deaths among seniors.
