This approach was shown to me by the great sax player Tom Fisher. To use a triad to get the #11 sound, think a tone above the root of the chord in content. WebTriads and their inversions are just 3 note chords. During lead playing you can arpeggiate them or rake into a scale run or bend or even tap the triads like EVH (RIP) but triads are not some kind of secret to soloing like Gilmour. I recommend the minor blues scale with an added 9th. That might help with the sound you're looking for.
