WebThis was a tin mine, open 1802 until 1889. The Towanroath Shaft engine house is the most famous building here, as seen on countless pics. With the decline of the industry, the number of workers here became less. Until it was closed down. Now it's a UNESCO World Heritage site. And a beautiful and maybe also sad reminder of past times.
